About me
I’m a 33 year old Manchester based web software architect, living and working in the city centre. My life revolves around city life, my close friends, my technical projects, being a Mac and LAMP geek and a heavy online presence, through Facebook, Twitter and this journal site. I have a keen interest in politics and business and I’ll also admit to being something of a railway geek, but I won’t talk too much about that.
I’m always on the lookout for new technical projects to get involved with. I have many years of experience working in the web software development and ISP fields, with an extensive skill set which includes (but is not limited to):
Development
- PHP.
- HTML and CSS.
- JavaScript and Ajax methods.
- XML, XSL, XSLT and XSL-FO.
- Aptana Studio used as primary IDE.
Operating systems and server software
- Linux (Slackware and CentOS).
- Mac OS X.
- Apache.
- MySQL.
Other skills
- TCP/IP networks, including LAN, WAN and wireless LAN.
- Asterisk PBX and related VoIP technologies.
- Software development technical documentation skills.
- Datacentre planning, implementation and management.
- Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, although my graphic design skills are not strong. I will usually outsource the graphic design element of a project if necessary.
Please feel free to contact me via e-mail* if you are interested in discussing how you can take advantage of my skills. You may also download my current Curriculum Vitae. I am willing to work on permanent, contract or consultancy basis.
* I welcome contact from recruitment firms but only if they have reasonable propositions (i.e. don’t call me if you want me to start a 2 month contract in Stoke on Tuesday, paying £20 per hour, that you “can’t tell me much about until I agree to do it” (this actually has happened)). Please also send caller ID when calling, or leave a voicemail (but do not do neither).
